Your female body has superpowers. No, that’s not hyperbole. The natural biological processes of your female body connect you to cosmic forces, whether you’re aware of it yet or not. I know…this may sound “out there,” But let me explain. If you’re here because you want to learn how to feel alive and healthy in your female body, this is a big piece of that puzzle.

There’s a phenomenon described in ancient yogic texts – siddhis. Siddhis are basically supernatural powers that one can acquire from deep, dedicated practice. Like Fight Club, once you have the siddhis, you don’t talk about the siddhis!

But most of the ancient yogic texts were written by men, so they talk about powers like clairvoyance, invisibility or being able to fly. Yogic siddhis are basically about acquiring connective power to cosmic forces.

In Uma Dinsmore-Tuli’s book Yoni Shakti: A Woman’s Guide To Power and Freedom Through Yoga and Tantra, she explains,

“When we recognize that the yogic siddhis are about acquiring a connective power to cosmic forces, it is also possible to see that these are the same cosmic forces that can set the rhythms of women’s cyclical life experiences. The wild tales of the siddhis tell of experiences of connection with transcendent power. The mysteries of women’s life cycles reveal that this very transcendent power is fully tangible, and immanent: the birthing or menstruating woman, or the menopausal woman drenched with sweat as she burns in the heat of the raging hot flash, are all experiencing the powers of the elemental forces flowing unbidden through their female human frame.”

Uma explains the 8 female siddhis are:

  1. The onset of menstruation at menarche
  2. Menstrual cycles
  3. Female orgasm
  4. Pregnancy
  5. Miscarriage
  6. Labor and birth
  7. Lactation
  8. Menopause

So, have you ever thought of your body this way? As a bridge between the material and cosmic world? Have you trusted the wisdom that has come into your consciousness through these experiences?

As a deeply feeling, sensitive woman, I spent much of my earlier life gaslighting myself, shoving down my internal world for fear of being “crazy.” My salvation was Ayurveda and Somatics, and learning a system for understanding how my body was speaking to me. Learning the cosmic language and truly, deeply feeling that as a superpower.

If you’re struggling with any of these phases of life, can you allow yourself to listen and trust? You may not know what it means or how to interpret it. You don’t even need to take that step yet. But can you listen and have faith in your innate power? Or maybe even superpower?

If you haven’t downloaded it yet, I’ve created a guide to help you understand how this energy moves through you – body, mind and spirit – during your menstrual cycle. You can download FLOW: A Menstrual Cycle Healing Guide.

As always, I would love to hear any thoughts you have about this, so feel free to email me back!

Much love,
